The much rumored Printmaking Flyer
Printmaking is marvelous way to make artwork that bears a large handcrafted aspect along with the idea of multiple originals so that the artist can share work while still having their work to enjoy. It is a process heavy medium that has a rich history and offers a wide range of possiblities.
I will be teaching an ongoing class at my studio. The processes we will cover include
intaglio, mostly drypoint but etching is possible,
relief printing, both black and white and color.
collagraph, a variation of intaglio.
monotype and monoprint, a great technique for improvisation and a wide range of visual marks.
Polymer plate intaglio, a means of working with photogravure. This allows one to integrate photographs into their prints.
Bookarts, covering a variety of techniques, including Leporellos, Coptic Stitch and other.
I have been teaching a range of printmaking classes for over 20 years, including 10 years of Introduction to printmaking classes at the Academy of Art University. I have taught monotype and monoprint at AAU and a series of private workshops at my studio. I also spent a month in Chile teaching monotype to a group of professional printmakiers at Taller 99 in Santiago.
The classes are planned for Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30. I can handle classes of up to 6 with a minimum of 3 students. If there is enough interest I will also open one up on Mondays
